PCOS and stress email series

How much fat should you have when you have PCOS

So how much fat should you be having?

Well, you might be surprised by the answer!!

As I’ve mentioned in other emails, fat is often deemed as being evil.

We’re always told to stay clear of fat.

It’s been drummed in our heads that we shouldn’t have it.

But for PCOS women.

This isn’t the case!

And to be honest, this isn’t the case when you don’t have PCOS.

So for us gals, fat is good!

Let me repeat.

And I’ll scream this!

FAT IS GOOD!!!! πŸ™€

Now, I hope by now that you and I are all good when it comes to fat and you’re now believing what I’m saying about fat.

It may have taken some convincing, but I hope I’m slowly unpicking your beliefs!

So I thought I’d share a video with you, which is part of my course titled The Power of food when you have PCOS which is included in the portal.

Access to the course and the portal is $5 per month and you can cancel at any time!

Anyway, this video explains the importance of fats for women with PCOS.

And you might be surprised by the amount of fat we can have!!

I’d suggest you have a quick listen to it. The link to the video is here!

And tomorrow I’ll share another video from the portal which highlights great examples of fats to include in your diet!

See you tomorrow for that!

Take care,

PCOS and packaged foods

I’m talking about packaged foods and PCOS

I’m Cheryl, I’m a nutritional therapist, yoga teacher and I’m diagnosed with PCOS.

People diagnosed with PCOS have issues with sugar.

So what’s that got to do with packaged foods?

Well, packaged foods are in the same category because of sugar.

And in some ways it’s worse than sugar.

And I say this because of  hidden sugars.

Because you can’t  physically see the sugars.

When I add sugar to foods and drinks there’s control.

I can decide if I have one spoon or two!

With packaged food that control is taken away from me!

I have to conform.

Now sugar isn’t just in packaged foods to provide taste.

It’s there for a whole host of reasons.

Some reasons range from adding texture, bulking our foods, preserving foods, reducing the acidity of foods and even food colouring!

So PCOS sufferers must look at how much packaged foods they’re having!

Sweet enough? | The PCOS and sugar link.

So today I’m talking about sugar and packaged foods, the first part of the checklist.

So what has this got to do with stress?

Well, when we think about stress we’re often thinking about stressful situations.

  • Bills we can’t pay!
  • Bereavement!
  • Workload at our jobs.
  • Relationship breakups.

OMG, these words are stressful!

I think I should stop. βœ‹οΈ

Agree?

You get the point, don’t you?

These are situations that happen to us, from an outside source.

But when it comes to our bodies, stress is happening inside our bodies.

And this is difficult to detect!

A lot of times we don’t know this internal stress is there.

What we eat and drink can put more stress on our bodies.

And unfortunately, PCOS can make us more exposed to these stresses.

Yes, I know it’s not fair, but it is what it is!

Sugar, unfortunately, is one huge stressor to our PCOS bodies.

PCOS sufferers don’t cope very well with dealing with sugar as we have issues with a digestive hormone called insulin.

Insulin, unfortunately, is good friends with our sex hormones and our stress hormones.

So the more sugar we eat, the more exposed we become to stress in our bodies!

And breaking this cycle or breaking up the cycle is a good way to do it.

And by the way, this isn’t me saying you can never have sugar or have a slice of cake!

If you’re anything like me, the cake is non-negotiable!

So this isn’t about demonising sugary foods and drinks as being evil and that you must never allow sugar to enter into your mouth.

It’s more about how frequently you have the sugar, see the point?!

So a couple of questions!

Do you add sugar to foods and drinks on a daily basis?

And are you eating packaged foods daily?

If you are, just tick/check the boxes and acknowledge it at the moment.

As you continue with this checklist you can think about specific things you can tackle to reduce it!

And tomorrow I’ll talk about packaged foods and the link with sugar as you’re probably wondering what the heck it has to do with sugar!!

Well, I’ll explain tomorrow.

See you then.
